NAME
Labradorite
MINERAL FAMILY
Feldspar (plagioclase feldspar group)
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Calcium sodium aluminium silicate, with variable proportions of calcium and sodium ((Ca,Na)(Al,Si)₄O₈)
COLOUR
Olive Grey · Dark Grey · Blue · Violet · Pink · Green · Golden Iridescence
FORMATION
Labradorite forms in igneous rocks as feldspar crystals cool and develop. Its characteristic flashes of colour, known as labradorescence, arise from light interacting with fine internal layers within the mineral. Depending on the specimen and viewing angle, these reflections may reveal vivid colours across its surface.
NATURAL VARIATION
As a natural product, every stone is unique. Natural variations may include differences in base colour, flash intensity, iridescence, inclusions, internal patterns, shape, size, small dents, pits, cavities and other surface irregularities. These features occur naturally and vary from piece to piece.
The photographs show the exact sphere available for purchase. Please refer to them for its individual colour, flash, patterns and overall appearance.

Labradorite is recognised for its dark base colour and shifting flashes of iridescent light, a phenomenon known as labradorescence. This sphere displays blue, violet, pink, green and golden reflections across its olive-grey and dark grey surface. The intensity and visibility of these colours vary with the viewing angle and lighting conditions.
Its distinctive combination of colourful flashes and shadowed tones gives this individual sphere its own character.

PHYSICAL CARE
- Clean gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth, with a mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, salt, ultrasonic cleaners and sudden temperature changes.
- Labradorite can chip or fracture if dropped or knocked against hard surfaces. Handle with care and avoid impacts, and store separately from harder minerals or objects that may scratch its polished surface.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight as a general precaution.
ENERGETIC CLEANSING
Sound cleansing or a moment of focused intention can be gentle alternatives for those who use crystals in spiritual practice. Smoke cleansing is another traditional option when carried out safely.
These practices reflect spiritual traditions rather than scientifically established effects.
